Pirates Of Caribbean MMORPG Goes Free!

Pirates Of The Caribbean MMORPG

Yay! Yay! Make way. Here comes Captain Jack Sparrow. Yep you heard that right. Disney is in a mood of spoiling you. I guess it is time for us to leave behind our daily chores and try a hand in piracy but of course not movie piracy.

In order to increase the fan following of Pirates of Caribbean  MMORPG, Disney is opening the paid-for bits this weekend. Since basic access to PotC has always been free, with some abilities and equipment reserved for the fee-paying unlimited members. This weekend (August 15 — 18) all Basic members will get an upgrade to Unlimited and be able to form guilds, stock up on weapons and skills, and generally get their buccaneering on. Unlimited class members wont lose out either, with up to 50% discounts in the in game stores.

It seems that I have got a game for the weekend which is gonna make my lazy butt a bit more lazy.

In case you are unaware about the game then please have a look at the video.

Active Worm in WOW steals password and loot

The World of Warcraft or WoW as it is popularly known is a virtual world that boasts of more than 10 Million players. This massive world has had its share of problems and here is a new one. As per a report on crunchgear:

The MMORPG world is too big a target to resist, I guess. Worm-wranglers in China created a worm falled Frethog, which this new one Taterf is based on. It copies itself around, executes whenever you look at it, and by means of keylogging, packet sniffing, or other methods, determines your online game login info. It’s targeting the big ones, like WoW, Lineage, and even Steam.

Once they’ve got your info, they’re free to do what they want: auction off your items, change your password and sell your account, or just play it I suppose, though I doubt that’s happening much

WOW-Wii

What do you get when you combine the most popular gaming console (Wii) and the most popular MMORPG in history (WOW), you get a combination that can be at best yelled out as WOW-Wii. 2 German students from German Research Center For Artificial Intelligence managed to surf Google Earth using a Wii-Fit Balance Board? Now they have reached further hacking Wii-fit and using the white balance board in the biggest MMOG World of Warcraft blending exercise and in-game raiding experience.

Grad students Matthieu Deru and Simon Bergweiler showed in a you -tube video titled “User Interactions with the Wii Balance Board”, how they used the periphal of Wii-fit to control the movement inside World of Warcraft. Here is the link to that video -

They change the characters’ orientation by leaning forwards and backwards, and then lean forward or backwards for movement in those various directions .Seems like Now WOW players can be in a dark room and get slightly fitter all at the same time :P.Serious developers should take hint at this, so they could implement both the board and remote for an action title.
