Epic Steam

March 17th, 2008

Steam is a great concept from Valve, this is a great gaming community based service. let me elaborate:

Steam is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation. It is used to digitally distribute and manage games ranging from first-person shooters and RPGs to racing games and cross-genre independent titles. Among its clients are Take-Two Interactive, Eidos Interactive, Introversion Software, Strategy First, PopCap Games, Capcom, id Software, THQ, Rockstar Games, and most recently, Atari. As of January 29, 2008, over 250 games are available on Steam, and as of February 7, 2008, there are over 15 million accounts.

THe latest to join this brigade is Epic, the big daddy of PC gaming. according to shack news:

Epic’s initial offerings constitute five titles: Unreal Gold, Unreal II: The Awakening, Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition, Unreal Tournament 2004: Editor’s Choice Edition, and Unreal Tournament 3. Each title will be sold for 10% off until March 24. An Unreal Deal Pack is also available, containing the five titles for $59.95–a savings of over $46. The discount applies to the Unreal Deal pack as well, making it $53.95 until March 24. click here to read the full story.
