DMC 4 and Lost Odyessy Reviewed

Early reviews of the eagerly awaited Devil May Cry 4 and Lost Odyssey on the Xbox 360 are out, both these games were looking great in the previews, but do they deliver what they promise, click the licks below to read.

Dave McCarthy (IGN.com) on DMC 4:

Devil May Cry 4 is a game that actually does deliver a genuine, honest-to-goodness, chest-fluttering surge of adrenaline. In that respect it’s the ultimate action game, blessed with its own inimitably strange sense of style. It’s polished and slick, it’s got gargantuan-sized gods, near-musical interludes, and infernal, flaming bosses. It’s nothing short of brilliant. It might rub some people up the wrong way, with its insistence on repeated playthroughs and recycled locations, and its rock hard list of achievements. But for anyone who buys into Capcom’s unique brand of action adventure, it’s as good as anything else that the Xbox 360 has to offer – up there with the likes of Gears of War and Oblivion and all the others.

Patrick Kolan (IGN.com) on Lost Odyssey:

Lost Odyssey actually gets a lot of it very right. It almost succeeds on a technicality - it just colours in the squares, dots the lines, lets you travel in vehicles, play as your effeminate male leads, busty female vixens with swords and staves, see some outstanding sights and takes you on an epic journey across seas, continents and underground. It’s staggeringly gorgeous, and looks and plays like a Final Fantasy title. It rarely steps away from the origins of the genre – instead playing with the ‘me too!’ mentality of a company that desperately wants to show the world that Square Enix can be bested.

Square can be bested – but this isn’t the game to do it.

Steven Spielberg, List of achievements: 3 Academy awards, Schindler’s List, Wii Block-Building game ?????

I think Steven Spielberg, I think, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler’s List and so on. I don’t think of a Wii title that is called Boom Blox and revolves around building blocks. The esteemed film-maker was signed by EA for a major gaming contract, this is the first offering. Although one should not be judgmental, so what if this game has something to do with building blocks, it still a Spielberg project. EA has confirmed that the next game by him will be an action adventure for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Not much is known about the game, all we have for you is screenshots, enjoy them as we wait further development and more news regarding Boom Blox.

GTA 4 coming April 29th

Get ready to steal a car, drive through hordes of dumb civilians, carry more guns than Neo in “The Matrix” and lure more girls than Larry, GTA 4 is coming to town. This religion of a game has finally been announced for the 29th of April and from the looks of its many previews, this is going to be one awesome game. Check out the preview here.

The GTA series is one of the biggest selling franchises of all time, its not a game anymore it’s a sub-culture like Satanism and Anorexia Nervosa. This is the fourth game in the series and was delayed from a October release last year, leading to a virtual riot of dedicated GTA fans and closet perverts. The PS3 is believed to be one of the main reasons for the delay, this lead to major fan-boy criticism. Well the hard part is over, we have a date and before you know it, you will be car-jacking for your first GTA 4 mission. In the meanwhile watch the trailers.

Duke Nukem : Forever, may actually arrive this year

Do you guys remember the bad-mouth-alien-kicking protagonist from Duke Nukem 3D, you would if you have played the game. Duke was a rage back in the late 90’s, he was a cult hero. The real downfall of the series came with the announcement of Duke Nukem Forever, the game was announced way back in 1997, there were a few delays and the game got pushed back a little, to be more precise, about 10 years.

The game was considered dead by most gamers, until recently a new teaser trailer was launched (see below), giving new hope to the eager fans of the franchise. This time the games creator, George Broussard is sure that the game will be released later this year. If you have never heard of the Duke Nukem series and think, why would the gaming community wait for 10 years for a game, let me answer your question in a few simple words, “In-game Strippers”. Duke Nukem 3D was notoriously known for showcasing strippers and other partially nude female figures, it was one of the highlights of the game. Well lets hope the game does release and solve a mystery that has been haunting fans for 10 years.

Honey I am “Home”

Which is a better console the PS3 or the Xbox 360?
I don’t know, it’s a very subjective issue, its great future prospect versus great online service. One particular piece of software that makes the PS3 unique is “Home”, this is a unique initiative in today’s world of “Social Communities”.

Home
Home is a virtual neighborhood that comes free to every PS3 user, although the service is till under closed public beta, it is already gaining immense popularity. The idea is simple, every PS3 owner gets his own apartment, an apartment he/she can organize like a real home. You create an avatar, somebody who looks and dresses as you choose, he can dance, laugh, smile and even wave at others. In your home, you can choose your own wallpaper, color scheme and so on. The apartment can be used to invite friends to come over and spend some time, sounds lame, read on.

Your apartment will have a virtual LCD, this will be stream movies, photos and music from your PS3 HDD, so its like inviting friends over and watching a movie, even if the friend lives on another continent. There will a central lobby wherein you can meet friends, make new friends, chat about anything under the sun, using a Bluetooth headset, USB keyboard or chat commands. There will be hang-out zones like a theater where you can watch latest movie/game HD trailers, an arcade where you can play arcade games with your friends like pool or bowling, home will be used to create and play multiplayer games as well. You can purchase bigger homes for a price and add a bowling room, pool table and so on. The best part about this deal is that the entire service is free, you can roam around Home for free, all you is need is a PS3. Revenue generation is via in-game advertising and sales of in-game products.

There is a lot to know about Home, click to read a preview on Techtree.com and IGN.com. Keep watching this place for more on Home, as there is a lot to come.

P.S: This feature does not intend to showcase the PS3 as a superior gaming console, the only objective is to educate the gamer about an upcoming service.

Mark Wahlberg in Payne

This is still a rumor but a good one. The screen adaptation of Remedy Entertainment’s multi-award winning game, Max Payne, about a cop and his vengeful journey through New York, is finally being made into a movie. Max Payne was a major hit and a very popular game; the game introduced the concept of Slow-motion action, also called Bullet Time. Check out the video below to see Max Payne in action.

The movie will start shooting in March this year and if rumor is to be believed, Mark Wahlberg  will be playing the role of Max Payne, a great choice for the role. One cannot forget Mark’s strong performance in “The Departed”, just cut the crazy talk and you have a strong character resemblance. The movie is supposed to be released in 2010, here’s hoping we see a teaser soon, in the meanwhile enjoy this trailer of an indie film based on Max Payne.

Blizzard Entertainment – Truly Inspirational

I am a big Blizzard fan; this is one game developer/publisher that others should look up to. Blizzard has a number of successful game franchises like Diablo, Starcraft, and Warcraft. The worlds most popular MMORPG, World of Warcraft belongs to Blizzard, their forthcoming game called Starcraft 2 is the most anticipated PC title for this year, with so much going on, its hard to keep track of Blizzard.

I believe that other game developers should take note and learn from a developer that has performed so consistently over the past decade, with games that appeal to the game critics and the general audience as well. There is a rumor doing rounds all over the internet of a strong possibility of an online version of Starcraft, considering Blizzards success with World of Warcraft, Starcraft online will be a great experience.

What really amazes me is Blizzards support to the gaming community, with regular events, and constant updates they make sure that the gamers are always satisfied and their product is never monotonous. Click here to go to the Blizzard website, look for the awesome fan-art section with great wallpapers. You may also check out the Wiki-page for Blizzard, you will find many interesting facts about Blizzard.

Blizzard recently merged with Activision forming “Activision Blizzard”, a merger that holds a lot of promise for upcoming projects. This is a great developer, with some of the biggest projects under its belt, let’s hope we see Starcraft 2 soon and enjoy another great product from Blizzard.

FFXII PS3 from Famitsu PS3 magazine

Final Fantasy is a huge franchise for Sony, every game sells millions of copies and merchandise. The FFXIII game on the PS3 is highly anticipated, not only in Japan but also other parts of the world. Click here to view the latest Famitsu magazine scans that feature FFXIII.

Sony is banking heavily on this game and if past performance is to be taken into account, the game will sell a lot of PS3’s. The Final Fantasy series started way back in 1987 and till date has 28 games under various genres and franchises, spawning into mobile phones and MMORPGs. If you are a movie buff, you would remember the two FF movies, “Spirits Within” and “Advent Children”. The game franchise has sold over 80 million units, and is the fourth highest selling franchise of all time. Check out the wiki-page for more info.

First “Lara Croft Underground” screens, let the drooling begin.

Every gamers dreamboat Lara Croft is ready for another round, this time in a game called “Tomb Raider Underworld”, the game is all set to send gamers into Lara frenzy as the first screen shots appear on the web, click here to view/download these massive screens, do keep in mind, these do not contain nude pics of Lara, as requested by a gazillion gamers.

There is a rare possibility that you are oblivious to Lara Croft and her huge (hmm..) talents, largely due to your inactivity with the outside world, you were either hibernating with brown bears or stocked up in a bunker, fearing a nuclear strike. Lara Croft is an iconic character that has made millions of dollars over the decade as a major gaming franchise, she has her own movies, books and animated shorts. Angelina Jolie played Lara Croft in both the movies, which made quite a lot of money. Lara has been modeled after many models over the years, including the super sexy- Rhona Mitra and the 20-something-hot-hot-hot Karima Adebibe. Lets hope the new Tomb Raider game surfaces soon enough, till then why don’t you check out the Lara on Wiki.
